Diagnostics Feedback and Support
Helping children, young people, adults and families understand diagnosis and move forward with confidence.
Understanding a diagnosis can feel like a significant moment. It can bring relief, uncertainty, questions, or a need to think carefully about what should happen next.
Our Diagnostic Feedback and Support Sessions provide a calm, psychologically informed space to make sense of Autism, ADHD or broader neurodevelopmental assessment findings. These sessions are practical, compassionate and formulation-led, helping children, young people, adults and families understand what the diagnosis means in everyday life.

Diagnostic Feedback and Support Sessions FAQ
Can my whole family attend, including parents and siblings
In general, we prefer to separate the sessions so that the young person has space to make sense of their diagnosis separately from their parents and siblings.
We usually recommend beginning with a session for the young person, followed by a separate parent session, and then, where helpful, a session together as a family.
This approach gives the young person space to process information at their own pace. It also gives parents time to ask questions, reflect on the assessment findings and think about practical next steps.
Where siblings are involved, we would think carefully about whether their attendance would be helpful and appropriate. Some young people may want siblings to be included at a later stage, while others may prefer to keep the feedback process more private.
Our autism assessment team includes Dr Tamasine Black (Lead Psychologist, Educational and Child), Dr Neha Matharu (Clinical Psychologist) and Dr Victoria Russ (Clinical Psychologist). All members of the team are additionally trained in autism assessment and diagnosis and engage in regular professional supervision. They are registered with their professional bodies with enhanced DBS checks.
Will we receive anything in writing afterwards?
Yes. We provide brief written feedback after the session.
This is not a full assessment report or diagnostic reassessment. It is a brief written summary of the main themes discussed, any key recommendations, and agreed next steps where relevant.
Will other services accept our report?
Our reports are detailed, professionally prepared and regularly used by families when sharing information with schools, GPs, Local Authorities, NHS services and other professionals.
Each organisation will have its own processes, but our aim is to provide clear, robust and practical assessment information that supports understanding and informed decision-making.
Who should I speak to in case of an emergency?
Tabla Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are worried that a child or young person is at immediate risk of harm, please contact emergency services, NHS 111, your GP, local crisis services or the relevant safeguarding team.
