Where are we based?

Please click here for Google Map directions to us: The Old Dairy, Whitedale Farm, East Street, Hambledon, Waterlooville, PO7 4RZ.  However, the pin is incorrect and despite contacting Google on many occasions, no changes have been made.  Please follow road signage to our clinic which is located on Whitedale Farm, and not in neighbouring Deepdale House.

We are very near to the village of Hambledon and the Hambledon Vineyard, about 10 miles north of Portsmouth.

We are easily accessible from both the M27 and the A3 by car.  The nearest train stations are Cosham, Rowlands Castle and Havant.

We kindly ask that clients do not arrive more than a couple of minutes early for any appointment or session.  This is because our psychologists are in sessions with clients and are unable to answer the door before your appointment time. Due to the layout of the clinic, early arrivals can disrupt ongoing sessions and we would be very grateful if you can respect the privacy of the client preceding your appointment by not arriving early.

Our Clinic

Will Freddie be there?

On  Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Freddie will usually be in clinic.  On occasion, Freddie may be in doggy day-care if someone who is attending that day has let us know they are uncomfortable around dogs.  Freddie works part-time and on Thursdays and Fridays Freddie is on his long walk days and isn’t at the clinic.

Working from our clinic

As the clinic is very quiet and rural, extra noise can be distracting from the waiting room.  Should you wish to work while your child is in a session, in order to make sure the session isn’t interrupted, we kindly ask that you work from your car. Please ensure you are parked in the visitor’s car parking spaces which are located directly in front of the main entrance and within a meter or so of the room your child will be in.

What to expect during your appointments

An initial phone call with Dr Tamasine Black is offered on Tuesdays between 10am and Midday.  These are offered as part of a call list whereby Dr Tamasine Black will call you between these times.   This is a relaxed, informal brief phone call whereby any questions can be answered, and any adaptations you or your child may need from the appointment are noted.

During your child’s in clinic appointment, no matter what assessment they are having we are always take a child-lead, play-based and sensory approach.  The sessions run for approximately 50 minutes which means that any assessments we need to do which are more taxing, such as cognitive or attention testing, can be broken up by regulation breaks, sensory activities and play-based activities.  Please click here to see picture: https://tablapsychology.co.uk/our-clinic/

Please see here a short Facebook video on what children can expect when they come in:

Clinical Psychology appointment for child and teen autism assessments

During this 90 minute – 2 hour appointment, you will be asked lots of questions about your child’s development at around 4 – 5 years of age.  The questions are quite specific and it helps if you can prompt your memory before the appointment by reading back over nursery reports or having a look at photos of your child at that age.

Adult assessment sessions

Following your initial phone call, you will come into clinic for a 50 minute assessment session.  This aims to be a relaxing and supportive experience whereby all aspects of the assessment will be clearly explained as we go along.

Feedback/ review sessions

These are 50 minute sessions whereby we go through whichever part of the assessment and/ or diagnosis is important to you.  It is client-lead and solution focused and aims at supporting and empowering greater understanding of the assessment experience.  These are charged separately at £120 per 50 minute session.

Support Sessions

We offer continued support in the form of single or ongoing 50-minute sessions with our Lead Psychologist, Dr Tamasine Black, or one of our clinical psychologist team, depending on availability.   These are available to any child or adult who has worked with us, or member of their family.  Slots for these sessions are continuously available, so there is no wait list.  These types of support sessions are called psychoeducation, which is an evidence-based therapeutic approach for clients that provides information and support to better understand, support and empower people with Autism and / or ADHD.

Space constraints, parking and arrival timings

Parking is available directly in front of our clinic with visitor spaces by the front door.

While our consulting rooms are large so that we can be as playful as possible with our client group, our waiting area is small.  We simply don’t have the space to have more than one family in the wait room at a time.

Therefore, we kindly ask that clients do not arrive more than a couple of minutes early for any appointment or session.  This is because our psychologists are in sessions with clients and are unable to answer the door before your appointment time. Due to the layout of the clinic, early arrivals can disrupt ongoing sessions and we would be very grateful if you can respect the privacy of the client preceding your appointment by not arriving early.

Report timings

Due to the sensitive nature of the assessment, the amount of information which is gathered and the multi-professional meetings which are held (depending on the assessment) to ensure the right outcome and appropriate recommendations, we ask for your patience with respect of the report being sent to you.  We do try our best to get these reports out to clients as soon as possible.  However, the reports are long and complex (up to 100 pages depending on the assessment) which must comply with all regulatory requirements and as such, please expect the outcome and the report 6 weeks after the final appointment, when it will be sent out to you.  Due to the nature of our work, at times there are safeguarding or court issues which must take priority, and mean that service delivery is impacted.  As such, we cannot give an exact date as to when the report will be with you.   Should you wish to have the report by a specified date that is before the 6 week deadline, we will charge an additional £300 to send it to you by that time as this will involve working outside of office hours for staff. Please send a request to our admin team to see if this is possible.
