Specific Learning Difficulty Assessments

Dyslexia · Dyscalculia · Dysgraphia
Aged 7 and up · In-clinic assessment · From £750

Understand your child’s learning profile

At Tabla Psychology, we offer in-depth assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. These assessments are suitable for children aged 7 and upwards who are experiencing persistent difficulties in key areas of learning, despite appropriate support.

SpLDs are lifelong differences in how the brain processes information. They can affect reading, spelling, writing, or number concepts—but with the right identification and support, children can thrive.

Types of assessment we offer

Our assessments are conducted by Mr James Turley, Specialist Teacher in Training, under the supervision of Dr Tamasine Black, Consultant Educational Psychologist.

We currently offer:

  • Dyslexia Assessment – £750
For children experiencing persistent difficulties with phonics, reading fluency, spelling, or memory for written language.
  • Dyscalculia Assessment – £1000
For children struggling with basic number sense, arithmetic fluency, and understanding of mathematical relationships, despite appropriate teaching.
  • Dysgraphia Assessment – £1000
For children who find handwriting effortful or painful, or who struggle to express their thoughts in writing despite good verbal skills.

What does the assessment involve?

All assessments are clinic-based and include:

  • A structured one-to-one assessment session
  • Standardised testing relevant to the area of concern
  • Brief classroom-style tasks
  • Analysis of underlying processing strengths and weaknesses
  • A detailed written report with clear conclusions and recommendations
  • Signposting to support strategies or assistive technology if needed
